General job description summary
The Street Department Laborer is responsible for carrying out the duties and objectives of the department as directed by the Street Superintendent/Foreman. The position’s responsibilities may vary greatly depending on department priorities and individual abilities. This is a hands-on operational position whose main focus is to provide support in all public works functions which may include streets, parks, beaches, sanitary sewer collection system, storm sewers, fleet operation and maintenance, snow removal and solid waste programs. Supervision may be necessary on most projects. The Street Department Laborer is expected to meet the position and department objectives. Drivers license is required, Commercial Drivers license is preferred, or ability to acquire within 12 months of hire. Wage rate is dependent on experience, and ability, range of pay is $20-24 hour.
